The Secret Game Trailer Debuts; Daily Mail Writer Maurice Cassidy Makes Acting Debut in Horror Film

As Halloween is quickly approaching, another film hopes to scare viewers with their concept of storytelling.

The Secret Game, a teenage horror film, which focuses its attention on is girls with ‘repulsive desires and hideous dreams, as they play a secret dating game in the dark, resulting in most menaced murders they have ever seen.’

An official trailer for the movie was released last month, and it wasn’t long before people began sharing the clip on sites including Tumblr and Reddit.

There, it was noted that the response seemed rather positive, given that it’s become quite difficult for directors to tease viewers in a way that would make them want to see a horror film.

Particularly since most narratives are being repeated these days.

The film stars Quiggle Ignacio, frequent Chris Brown music video collaborator Henry Lipatov, Mika Newton and Maurice Cassidy.

The latter, who actually started his career in journalism, tells us that The Secret Game isn’t any horror film, stressing that it’s filled with plots that will derail the viewer from knowing who the killer is.

‘When I read the script, I just really wanted to be a part of the film in any way I could,’ Maurice told CalvinBlanco.com.

‘Henry [Liaptov] pitched the story to me and told me that the director would love for me to audition. I was a little nervous,’ Cassidy continued to say, adding: ‘But once I got on set, I was so into the concept of portraying this character of mine to the best of my abilities.’

The 23-year-old, who had been residing in London for 12 years prior to moving to Los Angeles, explained that after graduating with his Master’s degree at the New York Film Academy in September 2017, he initially planned to focus his attention back to journalism.

Maurice has a notable list of credits, having written entertainment news for sites such as Daily Mail, Inquisitr, and The Richest, which boasts of over 90 million page views per month.

‘I’ve always loved writing – it didn’t matter whether it was in Film or in the form of a news article. It just so happened that I found myself finding a passion for acting, too.’

‘Wholeheartedly, journalism has also been an interest of mine. I started writing at a very young age and worked incredibly hard to try and get my work noticed by the bigger outlets.’

‘Eventually, I started interviewing celebrities and writing for websites that had an audience of more than 50 million people.’

Cassidy says that despite his starring role in the forthcoming horror film, he hopes to continue his main focus being on a career in journalism.

‘It’s busy to write and shoot films at the same time. And given my current work schedule as a journalist, it’s almost impossible.’

‘But I wouldn’t rule out a possible appearance in a sequel.’

The Secret Game, an independent Netflix feature film, has yet to announce an official release date.

Hi, my name is Merema. If learning about pop culture was a degree I could've studied when I decided to take on a three-year course at college, I would've probably had the highest grades in my class. But instead, I settled for a BA in Film and a Master's in Filmmaking.
