So much for better late than never.
Expect to be sued the next time you are fashionably late, especially if it’s your job to arrive on time.
Unfortunately for female rapper Nicki Minaj, showing up late to an NBA All-Star Weekend Event will cost her $50,000.
Reports have stated that the big booty artist was set to make a midnight appearance at the 2011 NBA All-Star Event and had initially agreed to providing a one hour performance for attendees.
Instead of fulfilling her contract, the show’s producers, IMP Entertainment, reported that the “Anaconda” rapper instead took the liberty to show up an hour and a half after her scheduled appearance.
If that wasn’t enough to set promoters off, Nicki allegedly performed for a mere 30 minutes rather than the hour that was proposed on her contract.
Minaj then proceeded on leaving the NBA event soon after.
New York Daily News reported that the 31-year-old artist was paid “$53,050 to cover her fees and expenses before the Feb. 19, 2011 concert and her abbreviated appearance ‘defeated the entire purpose of the agreement.’
It probably would have been in Minaj’s best interest to not make an appearance at all.
Lets hope Minaj rethinks the next time she decides to arrive late to a party and leaves her fans with only half a show.
Neither Nicki Minaj nor her reps have yet to comment on the ordeal.
