Nicki Minaj on Almost Losing Her Life: “This Music Industry Kills People”

nicki minaj faderNicki Minaj, that female rapper who wants to be the only female rapper in the industry, is clearing up the rumours and addresses some things that people have speculated.

Fader allowed the multi-platinum artist to cover their magazine for their latest issue, and the interview is rather juicy in terms of how it’s formed and questions that were asked.

About her BET Awards speech where she infamously dissed Iggy Azalea, Nicki says: “To make a point to say that the business kills so many people and we don’t even realize it.”

“I can only imagine how many people in this business have died because they may not have wanted to… to be embarrassed publicly. We care so much about what the world thinks that we don’t live, really.”

If you’re smart, you’d know that Nicki can be quite cocky in terms of how she handles her things. Her rival, Iggy, has been on the rise in the industry and Minaj supposedly hasn’t been happy with the success of Azalea’s hit ‘Fancy’ as her follow-up single ‘Black Widow’ is quickly rising the charts, making her get another smash song.

Minaj tries to explain: “I think one of my best attributes now, as a businesswoman and an artist and a professional person, is being able to think before I speak. I’ve learned that everything I think doesn’t necessarily need to be stated.”

Hi, my name is Merema. If learning about pop culture was a degree I could've studied when I decided to take on a three-year course at college, I would've probably had the highest grades in my class. But instead, I settled for a BA in Film and a Master's in Filmmaking.
