Lil Wayne has received a huge amount of backlash for having the guts to step on an American flag, not one, no twice but several times while shooting his newest music video.
The YoungMoney exec was shocked to see the response he had received from fans who thought he was purposely stepping on the flag to bring across some kind of message – which would have most likely been a publicity stunt to get the buzz going for the song. But that isn’t the case after all.
Weezy has taken to his Twitter page to let people know that him stepping on the flag was accidental; in fact, once you watch the video that premieres next month, you won’t even see him stepping on it because the director was only trying to get a close-up shot of Wayne as the American flag falls to the ground.
“I didn’t step on the flag on purpose! It’s a scene in a video where the flag drops behind me and after it drop it’s just there as I perform.”
Wayne stressed that whilst shooting the video, he couldn’t suddenly stop filming, remove the flag and then continue his duties because there was no need for it. Clearly, people were just looking to start drama about something so small, seeing that he didn’t do it on purpose.
This isn’t the first time Wayne has had a very controversial moment in regards to his music/videos. Earlier this year, the rapper joked he would beat a woman’s genitals up like Emmett Till in his Karate Chop song. Yes, he was DEAD WRONG that time, but with this… people need to have their seat and shut up because clearly it’s not being done purposely.
See for yourself!
